player bio
This powerhouse tournament champion describes himself merely as "talkative," but TV viewers, tournament directors, and fellow poker players will tell you that "Tony G." is a hyperaggressive "smack-talker" whose brashness can throw a poker professional off his game. Tony G. developed his individuality while growing up in Melbourne, Australia. He began gambling at the age of 12, and by 1994 was playing poker in casinos. He took his game to Las Vegas, but returned to Europe after a bad run of luck and cards. There, he settled for smaller stakes in a London casino, and played poker online. Taking advantage of the game's rise in popularity, he launched several websites and invested in other successful business opportunities. Guoga has placed in 48 events, mostly in Europe, and made it to 37 final tables, going heads up in 11 of them. He's won seven tournaments in his short career, including two at the 2003 White Nights Poker Festival, along with two rounds at the 2005 World Speed Poker Open. Most recently he won the 2005 European Poker Championship in London.
